ShrewsWeb listened to the postmatch interviews to get Gary Peters thoughts on the game

There is a degree of pride with the amount of work we've put in and what we've achieved, but there is a massive element of disappointment as we thought we could have won it.

We've been a bit unlucky lately with Ben Davies going down with an Achilles at MK Dons with the last kick of the game, but we replaced him with Derek Asamoah who was easily the best player today and murdered the opposition.

We dealt with Ben Davies being missing but then Luke Jones went down in the warm up which was unbelievable, he wasn't able to play so we replaced him with Ben Herd who hasn't played for 12 weeks, but we dealt with it.

We haven't got a large pot of money to just bring people in; if we had Walker who Rovers had then we would have won the League as he's the best finisher in the game.

They had two half chances which Walker put in, we had four or five chances but we couldn't put them away and that's the difference.

There is disappointment but there is also pride as well, we've got a young team and we are disappointed to fall at the final hurdle.

The people in the press room and talking about Derek Asamoah as the best player and asking where we got him from, he's absolutely annihilated them today but we've got to put those chances in.

Ben Herd has trained on Thursday and Friday and he declared himself fit if needed, it was ultra planning that him and Mike Jones were on the pitch warming up as we wanted to give them the experience.

Let people keep throwing brick bats at us and we'll keep heading them away and we will deal with it.

I'll not make any excuses about losing Ben Herd and Luke Jones as the people who came in did really well.

The reason we lost today is that Richard Walker signed for Bristol Rovers a couple of seasons ago; he is easily the best finisher in this league by far.

If I take any positive out of this then hopefully we've got a season next year winning more games than we lose, if we'd gone up then there was a chance that we'd have another season of fighting lives so lets hope for another good season with another batch of bright young lads to join these ones that we've got.
