ShrewsWeb listened to the postmatch interviews to get the thoughts of Gary Peters

stfc - gary peters

It was a super work out tonight, the game on Saturday got us passing but tonight's game really stretched us.

They are a Championship side and they showed it, some good movement, they closed down well and it was a physical enough game for a friendly and we got a lot out of the game.

We are down to our barebones with eleven fit players, we pushed Kelvin up front in the second half so we could bring on Colin Murdock, when then could stay strong and give a couple of the older lads a bit of a rest.

It was nice to see Kelvin get a goal at the end but Darren Kempson will get plenty of goals from set-pieces this season because he's a beast and can really thrown himself at he ball.

There were super performances from Chris Humphrey and Marc Pugh doing what they do but for me Darren Kempson was man of the match, he was keeping million pound strikers out with his pace, strength and positional play.

The is going to be Chris Humphreys pitch, it was different at the meadow as he couldn't run on that pitch. Then on the other side we've got Pughey and he's got pace but also tricks and can cross from anywhere.

It was a friendly but you still want to win and it was good to see Kelvin scoring at the end as we deserved it.

We had chances but you hone these in over the pre-season and work on your finishing towards the end of the pre-season.

I thought Dave Hibbert was game to take the penalty, it was a good shot but the keeper did well to pull off a great save.
