GP Post Walsall
ShrewsWeb listened to the postmatch interviews to get the thoughts of Gary Peters
It's about winning games so you can't take any comfort from the fact we lost and it was probably a deserved defeat, but you take comfort from the second half performance before they scored.
We put a lot of pressure onto them and passed the ball really well and created chances, but once again it was the same old story that we didn't take those chances.
Stuart Nicholson had a couple of good chances today that if he'd got could have got him going, but he just needs one of those to go in.
With the tempo of the game and the passing of the ball we are getting better at it and you could see in the second half we passed it well and created chances.
The goals we gave away were soft goals, the first was ridiculous and I'm very upset about and for the second one the movement of the ball in these FA Cup balls is amazing. It's wet and slippery pitch with lot of movement that the lads hit well but we could have done better before that, the corner didn't need to be conceded and we had chances before that to clear the ball. Glyn's come into the changing room and said sorry about the goal but from where I was it moved all over the place.
Walsall have good forwards and they are always a test but we gifted them the first goal and I don't care if it's Ricketts or Ronaldo if we make it that easy then we'll get punished.
It might sounds crazy as we've just been knocked out of the FA Cup but there were big plus points, the way we moved the ball about and the way we passed it is encouraging. There were good performances all over with Steve Leslie doing well, Darren Moss looking fitter, Marc Tierney was superb, Kelvin was excellent, Stuart Nicholson looked like he would get on the end of something and Symesy makes us play.
On Monday night most of the lads out there will play again in the reserves against Port Vale reserves. The way we passed the ball around encouraged us and all the lads want to play again as quick as they can, so it will probably be all of those other than maybe Garner, Drummond and Murdock as we want to see them continue to be as comfortable as they were on the ball today.
