Gary Peters sticks with the same squad again as Town look to keep their recent good home form going.
Town were nearly in the lead with only 31 second on the clock, some good movement and passes in midfield saw the ball pushed to Tierney out on the left, he took the ball forward and then held up play before putting a superb cross to the back post to find Stewart Drummond who had run into the space, he then put an excellent header back across the goal but Dagger keeper Tony Roberts was equal to it and pulled off a superb save.
Dagenham put on some good pressure around the Town goal and this resulted in a trying of dangerous looking corners. They had a great chance to grab the lead when following another corner the ball was lifted back in to find Shane Huke in acres of space at the back post but luckily for Town he didn't connect cleanly and Garner was there to gratefully snatch the ball.
Town were playing some decent football and were getting the ball into the front two on a number of occasions. There was some nice link up play going on with Symes, Hibbert and Davies all playing the ball around well but Roberts in the Dagenham goal was pulling off some great saves.
The chances were falling to the home side and there were a number of decent long range efforts, Dave Hibbert and Ben Davies were getting in some excellent shots but Roberts was commanding his goal well.
Dagenham were defending in numbers and at times they had 11 men behind the ball when Town attacked. Town had the ball around the visitor's box for most of the half but were finding it hard to break the visitors. The ball was in the Dagenham area but with so many bodies back there it was proving tough to find a clear sight of the goal.
The last quarter of the half was pretty flat with Town still trying to break down the stubborn Dagenham defence, but they were holding strong and frustrating the home side.
Half-time: 0-0
Town started the half brightly and were straight at the visitors with Davies and Hibbert going close, but Dagenham were again digging deep.
Town's pressure paid off on 53-minutes with a controversial goal. the ball was around the Dagenham area and was high in the air, Ben Davies went up for it and Solomon Taiwo jumped in and caught Davies with what looked like an elbow, Davies went flying and after much arguing ref Thorpe had no hesitation in producing a straight red card for Taiwo. Ben Davies placed the ball and then curled an unstoppable shot over the wall that left Roberts rooted to the spot and flew into the net.
The 10-men of Dagenham were trying to make a game of it and were at last showing some urgency. They were trying to get at Town and were pinging the ball around to Town area but nothing trouble Garner in the Town goal.
On 69-minutes Town got a second goal and a second for Ben Davies. The home side were pressuring the Dagenham penalty area with the ball stretching the visitors defence, it then dropped to Ben Davies who was just inside the area and he hit a superb diagonal half volley across the goal that flew into the net giving Roberts no chance.
With quarter of an hour of the game remaining Gary Peters made his first switch of the afternoon bring on Marc Pugh to replace Dave Hibbert, who had been having an excellent game but just couldn't get the goal he probably deserved.
Town grabbed a well worked third goal on 77-minutes, Ben Davies broke through the Daggers defence and had his shot blocked, it came back to him on the edge of the box and he traded passes with Michael Symes before the ball was played through to find Tierney in space on the left, he broke for the by-line before cutting back an inviting cross to find Marc Pugh who headed home from close range.
Minutes later Town had a fourth after Marc Pugh broke from the right, he then held the ball up to wait for support before turning his marker and pushing for the by-line, he then lifted a great cross into the area to find Marc Tierney out jumping Cook before head the ball past Roberts to make it 4-0.
Gary Peters made his other changes to his squad bringing on Luke Jones to replace Colin Murdock and then minutes later Neil Ashton was brought on to replace Ben Davies who left the field to a standing ovation.
Town continued to dominate and do a professional job, there were decent efforts for Pugh, Symes and Tierney but the best was a long range effort from Neil Ashton that brought a good save from Roberts at his far post.
Full-time: 4-0
