Gary Peters makes the one change from the side that beat Accrington 2-0 last weekend with Darran Kempson coming into replace Darren Moss who drops to the bench. Town line up with an attacking 3-4-3 formation with Marc Pugh joining the forward line.
The best opening of the early exchanges fell to the home side after some good pressure from Easter saw the ball out to the right to find Bullock, he swung over a cross towards the back post that Ben Herd looked to have covered, but he slipped and the ball fell to Torres but he drove his shot well wide of the target.
Town's first decent effort came after good pressure from the midfield saw Wycombe concede a corner. The ball was swung over at a good level and Dave Hibbert rose well to connect with a header but it ended up just over the bar.
Town had done well over the opening 20-minutes to settle well and take the game to the home side. The attacking formation that Gary Peters had sent out was causing Wycombe a lot of problems in terms of possession but clear goal scoring chances were scarce for Town.
Wycombe should have grabbed the lead after a long ball from Jamie Reed dropped in front of the Town box, Langmead looked to have covered but Langmead let the ball drop over him and Jermaine Easter was in on goal, Langmead tried to get back while Garner was quick off his line but Easter flicked the ball past both of them but someone how he missed the target and the ball bounced wide of the far post.
Town grabbed the lead on 26-minutes with an excellent free-kick which was awarded after Scott McGleish had caught David Hunt late. It was Hunt who placed the ball about 30-yards from the Wycombe goal, he hit in a ball with good pace that Colin Murdock rose well to get a flick on in which gave Jamie Young no chance and gave Town the lead.
Wycombe were looking to get back on level terms but Town's three centre-backs were staying strong to keep them out. A good move down the middle saw McGleish and Easter combine well with Easter finding him free in front of goal but Langmead flew in to block as Easter was about to slot the ball home.
The home side did get onto level terms on 36-minutes and Town made it easy for them, a move down the right saw an inviting cross curled over to find Scott McGleish and Jermaine Easter unmarked and it was McGleish who headed past Garner to level the score.
Sergio Torres was looking Wycombe's best chance of creating an opening with his good running and cunning play. He picked up the ball in his own half and was away down field, Herd slid in to nick the ball but Torres for once stayed on his feet and rode the challenge well, he kept his run going towards the Town goal and rode one challenge and then another before Marc Tierney came across to block, Torres kept possession and then was forced to push play to the wing after close attention from Tierney.
Half-time: 1-1
Town started with a change in personnel with Darren Moss coming onto replace Darran Kempson with the Town defence looking to have reverted to a flat back four. Town had a good chance on goal seconds after the restart when a long ball downfield found Stuart Nicholson powering in on goal with Young coming out quickly and it was the Wycombe keeper who managed to come away with the ball.
Town forced Wycombe keeper Young into making a superb save after Marc Pugh was hauled down for a free-kick just outside the box. David Hunt placed the ball and then laid it off to Marc Pugh who curled the ball up and over the wall but Young sprang across his goal to pull off a superb save to keep the ball out.
Marc Pugh had been quite quiet in the first half but in the second half he was seeing more of the ball and was using it well. He received the ball on the left while being challenge by Bullock but managed to ride the challenge and then turn infield, he pushed between two players before winning a corner. David Hunt launched the ball deep towards the back post and there was Kelvin Langmead with a looping header that dropped just over the bar.
David Hunt's throws were again causing problems and Town were pushing up people whenever they could to cause problems on these set-pieces. Twice Town won corners that Hunt launched into the box and on both occasions Kelvin Langmead got on the end to cause the Wycombe defence problems.
There was a moment of concern for Wycombe as they were preparing to bring on John Sutton as their final substitution, keeper Jamie Young pulled up after a clearance and was signalling to the bench and just in time they managed to carry the keeper off and replace him with Scott Shearer.
On 73-minutes Gary Peters made his second switch of the afternoon with Neil Ashton coming on to replace Marc Pugh. Pugh had been quite for the a while after Wycombe seemed to have singled him out as Town's danger man and had been putting two to three men on Pugh every time he had the ball.
Wycombe were having the better of final 10-minutes play but Town were easily holding their own, Wycombe had the better of the possession but weren't hurting Town with it. Town had the ball down the flanks and were pulling the home side but the best they had show for it was a Langmead flick that fell to Drummond a the back post, but the Town skipper couldn't pull his shot back from a tight angle.
Full-time: 1-1
