Stuart Nicholson, Neil Wainwright and Steven Leslie make way for a return to the starting line-up for Michael Symes, Marc Tierney and Danny Hall.

Town had set out with a line-up that looked like frustrating and stopping the Millers from playing, but in the opening exchanges it was Town who were having the better of the attacking play. The visitors were getting the ball into the Millers final third with Symes and Hibbert doing well to hold up play and invite Ashton and Hall to get up to support.

It was a scrappy game with 15 minutes of the game on the clock with neither side really taking hold of the game. The ball seemed like a hot potato at times with no one keeping on to it but in Town's favour they were working hard to cut out the options the Millers had to attack.

The first real chance of the half came just before the 20-minutes mark when Neil Ashton was adjudged to have handled the ball just outside the Town box. The ball was floated over to by Mark Hudson to find the head of Pablo Mills at the back post, he directed a header towards the goal that Chris O'Grady just failed to connect with and the ball flashed wide of the far post.

The home side weren't looking that much a threat to the Town goal but had had the few goal attempts of the game, a couple had been long range efforts that failed to test Garner but when the ball came to Ryan Taylor on the edge of the box he controlled the ball well but should have really done better with his shot that few well wide.

It was the Millers who were having the better of the attempts on goal and when a ball in behind the Town defence found Chris O'Grady he had space, he turned well and then drove in a low shot which beat the dive of Garner but hit the far post and rolled away from danger.

The momentum seemed to be with the home side and they had a couple of half chances before a good cross found Chris O'Grady rising well in the box to get in a good downward header but Luke Jones threw himself in the way for an important box. Then moments later Town rode out some more good pressure from the home side after a Joseph throw dropped to Derek Holmes at the back post, he stabbed a volley in but Garner was smartly across his goal to parry the ball away.

Rotherham's pressure paid off with 5-minutes of the half after Joseph received the ball on the right from a throw, he then hung an inviting cross towards the back post, Garner came for the ball and punched the ball clear after jumping between a clutch of players but it went as far as Pablo Mills, he then looped a header back in with dropped into the back of the Town net.

Town had a great chance to level right on the stroke of half-time, good work from Symes saw him close down and win the ball to give himself a run at goal, he cut inside and then drove in a low shot which was blocked, it rolled across the face of goal to find Hunt coming in at the back post, his path to goal was blocked by two red shirts so he flicked the ball back into the danger area but there wasn't a Town shirt there to take advantage.

Half-time: 0-1

The half started with a Town substitution with Steve Leslie coming onto replace David Hunt, Neil Ashton pushed into the centre of midfield alongside Stewart Drummond.

Rotherham should have been 2-0 up minutes after the restart when the ball found Derek Holmes about 20 yards from the Town goal, he drove in a great drive which Garner did well to pull off a good save, the ball then dropped to Danny Harrison totally unmarked with an open goal in front of him but he somehow screwed his shot well over the bar.

Town were seeing a bit more of the ball around the Millers box with Symes and Hibbert working hard but not really testing Warrington in the Millers goal. The best they could muster was a decent dipping volley from Stewart Drummond from the edge of the area.

With just over half an hour of the game remaining Gary Peters made his second change of the game brining off Neil Ashton and replacing him with Ben Davies, who was playing his first Coca Cola League game since rupturing his achillies at MK Dons back in May.

Davies had a great effort on the Millers goal after good work from Hibbert saw him close down Brogan, he then played the ball back to Davies who was on the right touchline, he cut inside and then curled in a shot which caused Warrington to get down smartly at the foot of his far post to smoother.

The best chances were still dropping to the home side and first Stephen Brogan was wasteful after squandering a header at the far post, then ball then fell to Derek Holmes who skewed his shot well high of the target after he should really have done better with the goal at his mercy.

The Millers kept pushing for a second and had a great chance after the ball dropped to Chris O'Grady on the edge of the Town box, he drilled in a shot that gave Garner no chance but the ball hit the underside of the bar and came back out, it dropped to Grady again who drilled in another great shot but this time Garner was down to pull off a brilliant save and then scamper across his goal to flick the ball away from danger.

To Town's credit they were continuing to work hard and push the home side to get back onto level terms. There were a couple of decent deliveries from Steve Leslie and from Ben Davies but here was no Town player on the end to test Warrington.

With just over 5-minutes of the game remaining Rotherham grabbed a second goal and it was a bit too easy for the home side, Joseph lifted a high cross towards the back post towards Derek Holmes and Darren Moss, it was Holmes who rose above Moss to nod a header back across goal that beat the dive of Garner and rolled in at the back post.

Full-time: 0-2
