Gary Peters names a strong side as Town look to continue their great start to the season.
Town had the best of the early chances after Herd had been awarded a free-kick after being blocked off when he went for a one-two with Moss. Marc Pugh curled the free-kick across the face of the area and Dave Hibbert rose well to meet the cross but his header was blocked.
The home side were using the width of their pitch well, Wilbraham played a great cross field ball to find Lloyd Dyer out on the left, he then looped a high ball to the back post which found the head of Mark Wright, he nodded the ball back across goal to find the head of Andrews but his header lacked pace and Garner easily collected.
The Dons tested Glyn Garner on the quarter hour mark after they were lucky to be awarded a free-kick just out side the Town box, Andres, Dyer and Lewington where over the ball with Lewington tapping the ball to set-up Andrews, he drove in a good looking shot but Garner was equal to it and punched the ball clear.
Marc Pugh was again causing the opposition and he turned Jude Sterling inside and out to find space on the edge of the box, he pulled the ball back across goal and Herd did well to win it, he pushed it into Nicholson who had to take a quick shot but it was easy for Gueret in the Dons goal.
It was a very open game at times with both side looking to break with pace with differing success. Town were getting the ball in behind the home defence well and Nicholson was nearly in on a couple of occasions. MK Dons were getting a lot of the ball in midfield and were using the space down the wings well to get a lot of crosses into the Town box but there was no end product.
The home side had the best chance to grab the lead after the impressive Colin Cameron picked the ball up in midfield, he was given space and then threaded a great ball forward to find Leon Knight in space between the Town centre backs, he had time but luckily for Town he screwed his shot well wide of the target.
Town had a good break which they should have done better with, the ball found Hibbert and Pugh in on goal with only Jude Sterling tracking back, Hibbert took the ball on and then played in Pugh, he turned to get the ball onto his left but this allowed Sterling to get a foot in and nick the ball away.
Colin Murdock was the first Town player into the ref's book and it was a silly booking, the ball was played out long from the Dons defence towards Knight, the ball dropped in front on Murdock and then looked to be bouncing over Murdock until he used his hand to bat the ball away and pick up the yellow card.
Keith Andrews had another good chance to give the home side the lead just before the break, he did well to win the ball off Drummond in midfield and then power forward, he then drilled in a great drive from about 30 yards out but again Glyn Garner was equal to it and pulled off a great save.
The home side should have been in front just before the break when a slip in the Town defence let in Leon Knight, he did well to find space and then drove a shot across the face of the Town goal to find Mark Wright who had run in behind Tierney at back post but somehow the Dons 14 drilled his shot across goal and missed the gapping net.
half-time: 0-0
Town started the half with a change that saw Colin Murdock replaced by Darran Kempson, Murdock hadn't had the best of games and the soft booking he picked up probably helped to make Town manager Gary Peters mind up.
MK Dons took the lead 2 minutes into the half after they broke down the right after good work from Andrews, Wright and Dyer saw the ball find Leon Knight in space behind the Town defence, they called for offside but Knight kept his composure and stroked the ball past Glyn Garner to make it 1-0 to the home side.
Town should have been level after a quick break saw Ben Herd pick the ball up and take play towards the Dons goal, he pushed it to his right to find Nicholson who then put a cross across which bounced through the home defence and came to Dave Hibbert, he has space and put in a first time shot but the ball cannoned off the bar and bounced away from the danger area.
It was still an end to end game with both sides looking to score whenever they could, Town were pushing and responding well after going behind but couldn't get past the Dons defence and Gueret. The home side were still dangerous on the break and on a number of occasions had the Town defence stretched but Langmead and Kempson were working tirelessly to keep them at bay.
With just under half an hour remaining Gary Peters made his second change bringing on Michael Symes to replace Dave Hibbert.
Glyn Garner was again having a great game in the Town goal and he had to be at his best when Keith Andrews found himself in far too much space in the Town box, he got in a header which dropped low at Garner's post but the Town keeper was down smartly to tip the ball away for a corner.
Gary Peters made his final switch of the afternoon with around 20-minutes remaining when he brought on David Hunt to replace Danny Hall.
Town were still getting half chances and after Pugh had Cruyff turned Sterling to win a free-kick which saw the MK Dons man booked they had a good sight of goal. Pugh placed the ball and then whipped in an inviting ball, Langmead and Symes rose well with Symes flicking the ball on towards the goal but it flew just over the bar.
MK Dons got a second goal and one which Town wouldn't want to see again, Kempson rose well to head clear but only as far as Andrews, he got the ball to Leon Knight who played a one two with Dyer before lifting the ball over the Town defence to find Dyer, he was in lots of space and calmly stroked the ball past Garner despite Moss's attempted block.
Town were all over the place at times now and when an attack broke down MK Dons were straight on the attack with Dyer down the right, he continued his run with three Dons players in support to his right, he pushed the ball low cross field and they let it run to find Colin Cameron on the right hand side, he drilled in a great shot but Garner was equal to it and acrobatically tipped the ball over the bar.
The home side grabbed a third goal and again it was a soft goal for Town to concede. Kempson did well to slid in and concede a corner to stop Knight on the right, Jude Stirling picked the ball up and put in a massive throw towards the penalty spot, Andrews rose unmarked to get a header in on goal, it was blocked but went back to Andrews who drove in a low shot which left Garner rooted to the spot to make it 3-0 to the home side.
Full-time: 3-0
