Town released their draft transport policy for the new stadium at the beginning of May. Thousands of leaflets were given out at the Grimsby Town and MK Dons with a survey for fans to fill in and give the club an idea of how they would be getting to the new stadium.

Scores of completed surveys have been handed back in and the club are now collating the replies to help shape the transport policy.

Town Vice-chairman Keith Sayfritz spoke to ShrewsWeb about the survey and was pleased with the number of replies: "We recently did a survey and handed out details of the travel plan out at the Grimsby Town and MK Dons games.

"We asked our supporters to hand in the completed survey forms and we've had nearly 200 replies which is a very good response rate compared to similar ones.

"What we do now is go through those results and the council are going to put them into a meaning full way and that will help us refine the travel plan.

"I'd like to thank everyone for their responses, some individuals have sent in letters which I will be responding to, but all of the comments have been very valuable.

"As I've said before the travel plan is a living document and it is going to be refined as we go on."

With the surveys being returned the club can get an idea of how fans are thinking about getting to the new stadium. The proof though will come when the stadium opens and people can actually try out the new options. Keith was quick to remind fans that the travel plans are not set in stone and the plan can change with feedback: "We've been working with Chris Lawley of the Federation of Stadium Communities who is still engaged on the travel plans for Coventry City, Southampton and Port Vale.

"We are well aware that what we have now isn't set in stone and we've talked to the County and Borough councils and everyone now appreciates that is only matchday experience which will help us refine it.

"We will continue to work with the liaison group which is made up of people from all interested parities involved or affected by the new stadium. We've worked closely with all of them and have a great rapport and are all interested in the same thing.

"That is getting our fans to the stadium with the minimum of disruption to them and to the local community."
