Town will be publishing an updated version of the travel plan for the new stadium but ShrewsWeb users can view it here first.

The new brochure has been sent to the printers after a few changes were added to the original consultation brochure.

The main changes are the use of the Park and Rides at Oxon and Harlescott and the fee being changed to £2 per person. Another thing that has been confirmed is that fans who live near the Park and Ride schemes can walk to and use the buses for £2.

ShrewsWeb sat down with Town Vice-chairman Keith Sayfritz to find out a bit more on the changes and the new plan: "The transport plan will be in operation for the upcoming games starting with the All-Stars match on 14th July and then against Coventry City on the 18th and all matches after that.

"It's taken a lot of time and effort and we've taken on all the feedback from our fans, we've had detailed discussion with the county and borough councils and that means we are ready to start on the 14th July.

"There are going be one or two changes in the plan that we will be publishing but one of the significant changes is that it is now £2 per person for any of the Park and Ride sites.

"Another change that I think will be of real benefit is that anyone who lives near and can walk to any of the Park and Ride locations at Shrewsbury Business park, the Shirehall, Oxon and Harlescott can use any of the buses direct to the stadium for £2 for the return journey without parking a vehicle.

"We think that the travel plan istfc - travel plans the best that any club has put together and there is now a real wish from the liaison group that the travel plan will work. One of things I need help from our fans with is now that we have got a whole range of options in place which we want people to follow them.

"There are a whole range of options from coaches from out lying areas such as South Shropshire, North Shropshire, the Telford area, Oswestry which means you can get to the Meadow at a pretty cost effective price. There is now the park and walk which enables you to get on the bus to get too and from the stadium, there is an express bus from the bus station direct to the stadium.

"What we don't want is people parking in areas where the travel plan makes clear people shouldn't park. Whether there are double yellow lines or not we just want fans to respect the community because at the end of the day if they park in areas that cause a problem then the club will have a lot more work to do."

A lot of hard work has already gone into creating the plan and now the hard work implementing it begins. As has been stressed before the travel plan is a living document that can be changed if the need arises: "I want to make a special tribute to Mike Ashton who has worked very, very hard on the travel plan with myself. Mike has been around to other clubs and we've learnt off them and taken the best ideas and rejected the not so good ones. We've persuaded the borough council to alter the original S106 agreement because the plans and ideas that we came up are good sensible, workable ideas.

"What started off as a daunting idea to work to this plan but in the end everyone on the liaison group has worked together well to get to this point.

"I know that once the games start that is when the fine tuning will begin, I want it to be that and not a barrage of criticism from people who don't necessarily have the best interests of the club in mind having a go at the club and it's supporters for not following the travel plan.

"I really want the help of our fans and if they have any questions or queries then get in touch with Ian at the club through the website and we will do Q&A's to do our best to explain everything."

If you have any comments or questions on the travel plan then pop along to ShrewsChat to leave them and the club will answer your questions.
