Shane Tudor signed on loan for Town a couple of weeks ago but has so far failed to figure in the Town side since picking up a hamstring strain in training.

The Town medical staff have been working hard to assess and rehab the hamstring but it now looks like Shane's problem is connected to an old injury.

Town manager Gary Peters revealed to ShrewsWeb that Shane will be returning to Port Vale to revisit the specialist who worked on a previous foot problem: "We've let Shane go back to Port Vale as he's still got a tight hamstring.

"He had a slight one when he joined to club and he felt that it would go during the first week and he would be able train properly.

"On the first day of training he couldn't extend it and we've had a look at it and there is no damage to his hamstring.

"He feels that it maybe from a previous injury that he had, they had a specialist in London who did an operation on his foot and this seems to be related to it because he's now got the same symptoms as he had then.

"Port Vale want the specialist in London to deal with it and Shane has been scanned today. Port Vale think that it is their responsibility to have it checked out and get it right and you have to admire them for taking that stance.

"Hopefully it is something that can be cleared up quickly and we can then take the loan from them.

"You can't cancel the loan in the first 28 days so the loan is in place, if he was fit to return within that time then he could carry on, but if not then the January transfer window is just round the corner."

The news comes a blow to Peters who had spoken highly of Tudor when he managed to bring the player in on loan. The priority is now for Shane to get back to fitness and then to hopefully return to Town:"We felt that Shane would be the right person to come in as he is a creative player and would have helped us.

"We will miss the chance to use him but hopefully he will be back soon and fully fit."

One other player who has been missing is Marc Pugh who picked up a groin strain. He's had a scan to assess the injury but the Town gaffer is still waiting on the results of that scan before he has a better idea on how long Marc maybe sidelined: "He's had a scan and I have been assured that I will get the results of that today, but I had been assured that I would get the results yesterday and the day before that.

"It's something I'll be taking up with my medical staff but at the moment we haven't got a firm up date on Marc."
