Players Move Out - updated
There have been a couple of moves out of the club with three players leaving the club.
Danny Hall has left to join up with Scottish Premier League side Gretna on a permanent deal.
Michael Symes and Neil Ashton have trained with Macclesfield Town and will join the club on loan until the end of the season.
Hall's move to Gretna brings to an end just less than two years with Town. During that time Danny has made just under 50 appearances for the club and was a big part of Town's end of season push for the play-off final last season. He has played in a number of positions during that time and GP revealed that Danny's adaptability may have been his downfall: "We had an offer for Danny to go to Gretna and we feel that it's probably time to change a few things around.
"We want to make space by letting a few of the players who haven't played very much lately go out.
"Danny is a lad who can play in a number of positions and sometimes that has been his downfall in so far as he can always be moved about but hasn't got a regular position."
The other players to move out from the club are Neil Ashton and Michael Symes who have joined up with Macclesfield Town on loan until the end of the season. The two were near ever presents last season but this season haven't featured as much. Marc Tierney's form at left-back has seen him make that position his own and Symesy hasn't hit the form in front of goal that he is capable of: "Yeah Ashy and Symesy have joined Macclesfield Town and I think that is a good move for both of them.
"Ashy has only started around 6 games this year, Symesy has played a few more but hasn't really found the form that he was in last year.
"I think it will do well for them to go out and play games and free up some space as we want to do a few things with the squad.
"We aren't happy with the performance in the first half of the season and we feel we need to change a few things about to do better in the second half of the season."
With the two going out on loan Town fans may wonder if that is the end for them at the new stadium. GP hopes his is not the case and with them only part way through their contracts at Town he is hoping the move will do them good: "They have both got another year on their contracts and what we hope happens is that Symesy goes out starts scoring goals and gets his confidence again and that we know what a good player he is when he's got his confidence.
"We know what a good player Ashy is, he is a very hard working lad who gives his all every time he goes out there. His development is such that he doesn't need to be playing reserve games but to be playing first team games."
With three players going out we asked GP if there would be any new additions to the squad. He confirmed that one is the way and others are likely to follow: "We are signing young player tomorrow who can cover the positions that Ashy can cover and that will help us.
"There's 3 players going out and they are going out to make space for us to have the chance to bring players in."
