Shrewsbury Town Football Club has appointed Rob Bickerton as Managing Director.

Rob has also joined the Club's Board and will be working closely with Chairman Roland Wycherley to take the Club forward.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Wycherley, said: "It's very important that the Club seizes the opportunities presented by its new stadium and builds on this progress to get back into a higher league where it belongs. I believe adding Rob Bickerton's energy and experience to our senior team is a major step in achieving that.

"The new stadium is just one part of a jigsaw. Rob's appointment is an important strategic move aimed at ensuring we complete the overall picture as quickly as possible. As well as being a successful businessman, his previous experience as Chairman of another football club means that he will be able to make a major contribution on all fronts, including team affairs."

Mr Bickerton stood down as Chairman of Macclesfield Town Football Club earlier this month after seven years on its Board. During his five years as Chairman he was widely credited with transforming the Club's financial position and securing its Football League status. A self-made businessman, he is married with three children.

Fans are being invited to meet Mr Bickerton at a special fans forum at the stadium at 7.30pm on Thursday 24th January.
