Defender Goes Out On Loan
Darran Kempson has moved to Accrington Stanley on a month's loan period.
The news broke this afternoon after the paper work was completed on the move that sees Kempo move out on a month's loan.
Kempson joined Town in the summer and has shown in flashes what he is capable of in the heart of the Town defence. He has been competing with Colin Murdock and Luke Jones to partner Kelvin Langmead at the back.
Kempo hasn't featured in the recent weeks starting line-up with Colin Murdock getting the nod. He's also had a couple of niggly injuries which have kept him out and this meant a debut for James Meredith and a switch to centre-back for Marc Tierney in last week's game with Hereford.
Town manager revealed the news this afternoon and hopes the move will help Kempo to gain some consistent form: "Darran feels he needs to be in the first team playing matches and Accrington were looking for a centre back and I think the loan will be good for him.
"He comes from that neck of the woods and it gives him the chance to get some first team games under his belt.
"Darran has shown a little of what he can do but like Luke Jones they haven't played enough games in the first team but with a run of games I think it will help his consistency and will bring the best out of him.
"We've still got Colin Murdock, Marc Tierney played at centre-back at the weekend and did really well and also with James Meredith we have good options.
"Chris Humphrey went on loan and that helped his confidence, Luke's gone to play in the Conference and is doing well and Kempo is lucky enough to be playing in the same league and that will give him the cut and thrust that a defender needs."
Another of Town's centre-backs Luke Jones is currently on loan with Conference side Kidderminster Harries.
He's been there for just under a month and Saturday will be his last game of the month loan period. It looks like Kiddy want to extend the loan and GP will be speaking to Mark Yates later today about the subject: "Luke's loan period with Kidderminster finishes tomorrow and I've spoken to Luke to see what he wants to do and he feels about it.
"He's enjoying playing games there and wouldn't have a problem continuing the loan with them.
"Mark Yates hasn't come back to me yet but I've been told that he'd like to keep Luke and I will be talking to him this afternoon.
"If we do extend his loan we would have an immediate recall put in there in case something happened then we could bring him back anytime."
