Paul Simpson has made his first signing for Town by bringing in experienced defender Graeme Lee on loan until the end of the season.

29 year old Lee started his career as a youngster with Hartlepool United before a move to play with Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship. He moved to Doncaster Rovers in 2006 and his commanding performances at centre-back saw take the captain's armband at Donny.

Graeme underwent basic surgery at the end of the 2006/7 season to clear out an ankle problem. He returned for pre-season this season and this started a frustrating season as a number of niggley injuries kept him out, in the mean time new signings at Donny established their places in defence. He is back fully fit and raring to go after a recent loan spell at Hartlepool.

Town manager Paul Simpson revealed the news to ShrewsWeb this morning and was delighted to have brought in the experienced centre-half: "I'm delighted to have got Graeme in on loan as he is the experienced sort of player that I am looking to bring into the club at centre-half and hopefully it will be a successful spell with us.

"He's played a lot of games and has been involved in promotions and he knows this league.

"Hopefully he can come in and have a good look at what we are doing and we can have a look to see if there is something more long term that we can do.

"I've seen a lot of Graeme over the years and know what he is all about and he is the type of character that I want to bring in.

"It gives another option in defence and also helps to fresh en the squad up a little bit for this final run in.

"He's a captain type of character and when you have a squad which is very very young you need that type of player and hopefully Graeme will bring that to the club."
