Graeme Lee
News broke yesterday that Paul Simpson had made his first signing for the club by bringing in experience centre-back Graeme Lee on loan.
Simpson had highlighted earlier in the week the fact that he wanted to bring some experience into his young squad to help them in the run up to the end of the season.
Lee arrived at the club this morning and met up with his new team mates ahead of their first training session. He was looking forward to getting back to playing regular football after an injury hit season: "I've had a bit of an injury hit season and the most important thing for me is to be playing games.
"I spoke to Paul Simpson and he's been trying to get me down here and he really sold the club to me.
"He explained what the club was about and spoke all about the set-up and when I pulled up here this morning I knew he wasn't lying."
Shrewsbury Town isn't a club that Graeme knows much about at the moment but Paul Simpson has explained the set-up to him: "When you see little bits on SKY and other bits and bobs on TV you can see bits on the new stadium.
"You see and hear bits and understand that the club want to be going places and progressing.
"Speaking to the manager he explained how the chairman is very ambitious and how he wanted me to come down and take a look at what the club was about."
After having an injury hit season Graeme is now hoping that he can take his chance at Town and get back to playing regular football. He's already had a short successful loan with his old club Hartlepool and is hoping for the same at Town: "It is a season I wanted to write off up till now.
"I haven't really played a game for Doncaster through injury and it has been a frustrating season.
"I had a spell at Hartlepool, which is my old stomping ground as I started there, and they needed someone to come in as they had suspensions. I needed some games to get my season going so went down for three games and both of us were pleased with it.
"I just want to get in to the team and take my chance and try to end the season on a high."
Simpson has brought Graeme in to add some experience to his young squad to help them pick up some results. Lee brings with him the experience of over 300 games in the Championship as well as League 1 and 2 which he hopes will benefit the team: "I looked round the changing room this morning and looked at the squad on the internet before I came down and it is a young squad.
"When you're not playing in the league you do lose a little bit of contact with whose playing and who's doing well.
"I've been told there are a lot of good young players here and hopefully I can help things and help the club climb up the table.
"I like to think I'm quite an aerial type of defender but I can also play the ball around a bit.
"I'd been captain at Doncaster from just after I joined and you enjoy but even if you don't have the armband you can still be helping people along."
It was a quick introduction to Shrewsbury Town this morning with a quick introduction to his new team mates, train and then jump on the coach to travel down for tomorrow's game against Dagenham: "You'd rather jump into things at times and go straight in there and see what happens.
"I've just met most of the lads and they seem a decent bunch and I'm looking forward to playing with them.
"After training we will jump on the bus to Dagenham and then focus on Saturday's game."
Graeme Lee will have the squad number 4.
