Ex Town skipper Andrew Tretton has joined Shrewsbury Town's successful commercial and marketing department in the role of Sovereign Club Co-ordinator. The role will involve the development of new members for the Sovereign Club, as well as looking after the existing members.

Andy started his career as a trainee with Derby County before a move to Shrewsbury Town under Kevin Ratcliffe. He went on to play well over 100 games for Shrewsbury in the heart of the defence between 1997 and 200s, as well as skippering the side. He then had a successful spell with Hereford United which was followed by a move to Accrington Stanley before being forced to retire in 2007 through a knee problem.

Town's general manager Jon Harris was pleased to have someone of Andy's calibre on board to help the continued development of the Sovereign Club: "We are delighted to have been able to get Andrew Tretton on board.

"He is a respected ex skipper of the club, a lovely lad and someone who will be a credit to our commercial team.

"It's good to have him back as a part of the football club."

Andy took up his new position yesterday and has been busy getting in touch with the Sovereign club members and is happy to be back at Town: "It's good to be back at the club as I had some good times during my career here.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for me to be joining the club at such an exciting time with the development of the new stadium and with the Sovereign club.

"I'm looking forward to speaking to the existing members as well as helping to develop the Sovereign Club and help the commercial side of the club."
