Martin Wild continues his look back at Town's eventful 2007/08 season.

Next up were Alan Buckley's Grimsby who had drawn their opening three games. Gary Peters had recruited striker Stuart Nicholson on loan from West Bromwich and he took his place on the bench. Goals from Hibbert and Michael Symes sealed another home win by the odd goal in three, and then a less experienced Town outfit went down 1-0 at Yeovil in the Johnstone's Paints Trophy.

Hibbert scored again at Edgeley Park but Stockport took a share of the spoils and then added to his tally against Accrington. It was a game which also saw Nicholson register his first goal in Shrews colours, by opening the scoring in the early stages and 2-0 was how it finished.

Another creditable draw was earned at Paul Lambert's fancied Wycombe and in the next game Town were nine minutes away from sitting on top of the table when they held a 2-1 advantage against Rochdale at the New Meadow. Just as it looked like we were going to land the fourth straight win at home, Dale struck twice in quick succession to dampen the mood. David Hunt looked to have salvaged a point with an equaliser after 89 minutes, but Adam Le Fondre plundered a gut-wrenching winner for the Lancastrians with virtually the last kick of the match. Gary Peters said he felt shell-shocked and suggested we were naïve in going looking for the killer third at 2-1 up, when we should really have been looking to close the game out.
