ShrewsWeb listened to the postmatch interviews to get the thoughts of Gary Peters.

We had two different sides out there and I thought we showed we could pass the ball better than we did before but retained our willingness to work as a team.

IGary Peterst's only a pre-season friendly so I won't get too carried away but there were some good signs out there.

Stoke won't worry too much about losing it and we won't be congratulating ourselves too much, we'll look it and see there were things out there that we wouldn't get away with in League games but then again there were some bits which were brilliant.

It was great for Mark Stallard to get off too such a good start, the lads as bright as a button and can see things and can finish when he gets chances.

The new lads all looked sharp and lively and that was a good thing to see, and it's what we've seen on the training ground and it's good to see that in a match situation.

You shouldn't read too much into who was Captain tonight, before the game I decided on Dave and then Sharpie when he came off, there's a couple of weeks left to make the decision.

The passing was good tonight and that's what we expected, we knew we had to improve on that. Last season it was out closing down and workrate that kept us in the League.

Gavin Cowan got a kick near the end but other than that there was no injury worries, I took a lot of the lads off as I didn't want to push them too much on the first game.
