Dave Hibbert was the featured player in the Mansfield Town programme and here are his question and answers.

Q - What is the best goal you have scored and why do you think it was so good?

A - I was about 10 when we played away at Ajax in a friendly, I ran round about 5 players and then stuck the ball in, I'll never forget that one.

Q - Why do the Port Vale fans seem to hold a grudge against you?

A - I left Port Vale to go onto Preston and when I went back I had a scuffle with one of the lads in the tunnel after. When I went back there with Shrewsbury in pre-season they gave it too me more.

Q - What do you think you still need to improve in your game?

A - I always want to improve ever part of my game all the time.

Q - Which partner at the club do you prefer to play upfront with?

A - As long as I'm playing in the side I don't mind who I play alongside.

Q - What are your overall thoughts on the season so far and the current blip?

A - We started really well and the results were good but we always knew we had to improve the performances. I think we've lost our way a little bit recently but hopefully we are over that and the point at Bury will see us kick on from that.

Q - Have you set yourself a target for goals scored by Christmas & season end?

A - I have set myself a target but I'm not mentioning to anyone, not ever my dad.

Q - What's it like to be playing regular football?

A - It's fantastic to be playing every week but I know that I've got to work hard to maintain my place. If I do that then hopefully I will remain playing regularly.

Q - What are your hopes and aspirations for Shrewsbury town at the moment and in the near future?

A - In the short term to start winning again, then to get a good set of results and get into the play-offs at least.

Q - You're now back near to home again, do you feel this is a big factor in your fine start to the season?

A - back at home but unfortunately living with my mum and dad again :) no, it is great to be back home again with my friends as last season when I was out on loan living in a hotel it was difficult. Now I'm at a good club and back home around my family and friends I'm feeling a lot happier.

Q - What brought you to Shrewsbury?

A - The manager, I knew that he'd been watching for a while and was interested. I wanted to be part of this club as I think we are a club going places.

Q - If you weren't in football what would you want to do?

A - No idea, I probably would have tried to be a physio but not sure if I'd be clever enough.

Q - Which sort of striker do you think would best compliment your style of play if they were to play alongside you, a big bustling striker or a small nippy one?

A - I don't think it matters who plays alongside me as long as we work hard together and do the best for the team.

Q - You have had a great start to the season, player of the month nominations for 2 months running, championship club are always watching lower league players, if one started to express an interest and made it public would that put you off your game?

A - I'm not going to think about that, I'm happy to be playing football for Shrewsbury and want to continue doing that for as long as possible.

Q - Last time you played at MK Dons you left in a helicopter, was it easy to go back there this season?

A - It was easy as it was at a different stadium, if it had been the old one it would have been hard. Last time I played there I went up for a header and got smashed unconscious for 40 minutes.

Q - What was the first gig you went to, who was it and did you enjoy it?

A - To be honest I've never been to one, I was meant to see Kanye West with a mate in a couple of weeks but it's tailed off.

Q - Who are your footballing heroes?

A - Eric Cantona, just because he was arrogant and was just an unbelievably class player.

Q - What hobbies do you have outside of football?

A - Cricket, golf, tennis and sport.

Q - What's the best piece advice you have ever been given?

A - Always give your all, and fail to prepare prepare to fail.
