Town started with a 4-3-3 formation with Moss and Barnes playing wider in a front 3. Jimmy Ryan was playing just in front of the back 4 with Hunt and Hall pushing on. Luke Jones was chosen as tonights captain for the town.

The first 10 minutes was relatively quiet with Town having the best of the opening exchanges. Luke Jones was commanding his backline well and Constable was winning most of his headers up front. Asa Hall managed to find his way through a gap in the Walsall defence only to see his effort saved by Gilmartin.

On 14 minutes Town got the breakthrough they deserved with James Constable neatly slotting home from the left hand side of the Walsall area. Town were on top now and Barnes had a 20yrd shot just over the bar. Harry Hooman was having a solid game for town in the back 4 keeping a close eye on Demontagnac.

On 27 minutes Walsall had their first meaningful attack with Harry Harris breaking through the centre of the Town defence, only to be thwarted by a great save by Jas Singh on the edge of his penalty area.

Town were looking good value for their lead and Walsall were forced to go long in search of an equaliser. On 36 minutes Brown headed over the bar from 8yrds out having managed to find his way from the clutches of his marker.

On 40 minutes the same man again was on target this time, heading in unmarked from 6yrds following a Harry Harris cross from the left wing. Town pressed again just before the break with Barnes taking on Sansara and putting in a fantastic cross for Aaron Gibson to get a diving header in on goal which was well saved by Gilmartin.

Half Time 1-1 - The scoreline reflected the game so far, Walsall had the better of the last 10 minutes.

No changes at half time saw Town on the attack first. Barnes had a shot from 25yrds just over the Walsall bar following a long accurate pass by Jones. McDermott chanced his arm from 20yrds only to pull his shot wide.

Just a few minutes later and a slip by Brown allowed Demontagnac a clear run through on goal. He rounded Singh but missed a totally open goal from about 5yrds, putting the ball into the side netting in the process. Just a minute later the same man was through again only to be foiled by some excellent keeping by Singh.

Town were being pegged back early in the second half and a scramble in the Town penalty area saw bodies flying in front of shots, only for the final effort by Harris to be pounced on by Singh.

On 69 minutes Town had their best chance of the second half so far with a strong run by Constable seeing the ball fall for Tom Moss who had a shot deflected wide of the Walsall post. From the resulting corner Asa Hall flashed a header across the face of the goal.

Walsall took the lead on 71 minutes with a strong Demontagnac run and shot proving too hot to handle for Singh in the Town goal - the goalkeeper's only error of the evening. Town were now finding their feet and pushing their way back into the match. Asa Hall had another header go just wide of the Walsall goal following good work by Tom Moss on the left hand side.

Town found their way back into the game on 83 minutes when Constable slotted home to the left hand side of the goal, following great work on the right by Jimmy Ryan. Town continued to press and got a deserved winner on 89 minutes through Asa Hall. The Town midfielder sent a bullet of a shot into the top left corner of Gilmartin's goal from 18 yrds out.

Walsall had one last chance in the final minute to equalise, but the dangerous Aaron Brown saw a header saved by Singh from 6 yrds out.

Full Time 3-2 to Town - Very impressive comeback from Town having been under pressure for the early part of the second half.
