The London Shrews were formed in 1997, when a few London based London ShrewsTown fans got together with a view to get together have a drink and discuss the Shrews. Being an Exiled Shrew it's often good to keep in touch with other ex Salopians and with car shares to games it can offer a cheaper alternative, not only to get back for Town games, but also for a weekend back in Shrewsbury.

Since then things have expanded and we now have about 25 members based not only in London but also all over the South East from Andover to Southend and Brighton to Hertford.

Travel

During the season there is almost always at least a car or two heading to watch the Town either at the Gay Meadow or often away games. There's usually someone going just for the game, or often London Shrewsstaying for the weekend, which gives you a chance to catch up with friends and relatives. By splitting the cost of the petrol it really is a lot cheaper than train or drinving up yourself and can help you attend more games than you might otherwise.

On the occasions where there isn't a car travelling up you'll usually find someone who'll be travelling by train, and by using the mailing list (see below) we often arrange to meet up at the station.

Mailing List

The easient way to keep in touch and find out about meet-up's or find out if anyone's travelling up from you area, is by signing up to the London Shrews email list, where you can send a message to all the other London Shrews and receive a reply, not only for travelling to games but for any query at all.

Social

The London Shrews have been known to enjoy the odd drink or seven (!), and as well as meeting up for Town games, we often just meet up for a few beers, or occasionally meet up to go to another game in the Capital (we've recently been to see England U21's at Craven Cottage and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge)

We also play football on an occasional basis, and indeed theis summer we have had a 6 a side team in tournaments in Colchester London Shrewsand also in Walthamstow, where we won (!) the wooden spoon. We also occasionally join forces with other exiled Shrew fans from around the country to play the official Shrewsbury Supporters team, the morning before a match at the Gay Meadow.

Get In Touch

It costs nothing to join but ocasionally we ask everyone to voluntarily contribute towards a special cause such as sponsoring a player or the cost towards our new enormous London Shrews flag. This season we're sponsoring the kit of Matt Redmile.
