lead after only 3 minutes, a telling cross from Lorraine Oliver found Kate Challoner to shoot home on the run in from 6yards, Oliver herself went close 2 minutes later, only for her shot to go over the bar. On 22 minutes Town got their second goal, Challoner this time was the provider from the right, and Penny Brown slotted home from 3 yards. TNS were still playing good football, and always looked menacing, but their poor finishing let them down, and Town's defence had to be on their toes with high balls being played at them on numerous occasions, Ellie Glover made 2 crucial saves at the end of the half.

On 53 minutes Town added No 3, Brown raced through to hit a ferocious shot which Bev Highfield in goal for TNS could only half save, the defender cleared off the line and Erin Vaughan raced through to hit in the rebound. On 65 minutes TNS got back in touch, after losing the ball in midfield Town were caught out and the striker placed her shot just inside Glover's right hand post, but Town still kept on top and Brown created problems for the defence with clever forward running. She tested Highfield twice in as many minutes, but on 76 minutes came the best goal of the game. Oliver ran through from midfield, beat 2 players and hit an unstoppable shot from 20 yards. However TNS got their second with a run through, shooting under the advancing Glover. Town stayed solid and both Brown and Vaughan went close near the end.
