There was a special visitor to the new stadium last Thursday morning with a helicopter landing on the car park.

The Squirrel helicopter from the Defence Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury dropped in at the stadium for a special retirement treat for its pilot.

Andy Digby is one of the instructors at RAF Shawbury and two of his greatest passions are Shrewsbury Town and flying.

Andy is retiring in a couple of week's time and he's asked the club if he could get a photo of the helicopter inside the stadium.

The club agreed to this so Andy and the bases photographer dropped in on the stadium this morning much to the amazement of everyone who was at Oteley Road.

Andy flew the Squirrel into the stadium and hovered for over 10-minutes as the photographer snapped away, he then picked the photographer up in the car park and they were off on their way back to Shawbury.

The visit was even picked up by the clubs webcam - www.newmeadow.com/webcam.
