It was the visitors who took the early advantage after a Town attack broke down and Oldham went up the pitch to score.

Town steadied themselves and hit back with a penalty from Tom Moss after he's done good work down the left to win the corner.

All in all a useful point for Town but head of youth Nigel Vaughan thought his lads were unlucky not to get the win: "It's the first point we've ever got against Oldham in my time in charge.

"They are a decent side and were again on Saturday; Tony Philliskirk has got a lot of lads through the youth season. They beat us 11-0 a couple of seasons ago and absolutely tore us apart and the three lads who played up front that day are now all in the first team squad.

"I thought we deserved to win, they had a number of chances and Dave Maguire has had a little bit of a backseat this year but he came in was absolutely superb. His distribution was first class and he made a couple of good saves in the first half, in the second half though he didn't have a save to make.

"I didn't play any second years whatsoever and actually had two under 16 year olds in the starting line-up and finished with an under 15, a lad called Connor Goldstone who is a superb player and he played 25-minites at the end.

"It was 0-0 at half-time and we've had a couple of chances, one where Andre Gray has gone round the keeper but didn't finish and then just before they scored we had some good play from Jan Coulston and a ball from Gibson that's seen Andre Gray get in but he couldn't finish.

"Tom Moss needed a little bit of run out as he'd had a bit of back injury and he got the goal, I'd played him out wide with a strong wind behind him. He'd been working well for us and doing a lot of good work and this paid off with a corner, from this their lad blatantly pushed Leon Miles and the ref gave us a penalty. It was the first penalty I can't remember this season and Tom Moss has stepped up and put he keeper the wrong way."
